What are the main causes of neck and shoulder pain?

  • Injury of the soft tissue

Soft tissue refers to muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The injury can be due to whiplash, broken collarbone, rotator cuff injuries, or a broken shoulder blade. These injuries are defined as  damage to bone structures and soft tissues due to a sudden force, rapid movement or motor vehicles accident.

  • Degenerative arthritis and degenerative disc disease

These kinds of diseases can cause pinched nerves that result in neck and shoulder pain. In most cases it’s due to herniation, swollen joints, stiffness of joints, joint creaking and loss of range and motion.

  • Bursitis

The main function of bursa in our body is to provide cushions between part of the body that produce friction, such as, tendons and bones. An inflammation of bursa is called bursitis and its common causes are repetitive movements, such as, throwing, trauma due to extensive movement of joints, infection and present rheumatoid aliments.

  • Tendonitis

Tendonitis is caused by an infection. This commonly occurs in the shoulder because of a repeated motion and lifting, which put intense pressure on the shoulders.

  • Poor posture
